Moore’s Delicious Crab Cakes and other Holiday Party Appetizers Here in the South, our holiday parties are already in full swing. Many of our get-togethers feature tons of delicious dishes, especially appetizers, so we can taste as much variety as possible.

So once you have the tree decorated, the mistletoe hung, and the dining room table covered in magnolia leaves and Mason jar candles, you just need to decide on which appetizers to serve.

Cheeseballs and Summer Sausages are sure to be eaten up quickly, but chances are, your guests will be having those at various other gatherings during the holiday season.

To spice things up a bit, try serving these recipes to satisfy any appetite while adding a little Southern flavor to your party.

Moore’s Buffalo Chicken Salad Pinwheel Christmas Tree
    4 cups shredded chicken, cooked
    1 cup white onion, diced
    1 cup celery, diced
    1 cup carrots, shredded
    1/2 cup Moore's Buffalo Wing Sauce
    1/2 cup ranch dressing (use 1/3 cup for more spiciness)
    Salt and pepper to taste
    1 pack of Spinach tortillas
    Cherry tomatoes for decoration
    1 toasted piece of bread cut into a star shape
   *Plastic wrap
  1. Cut up cooked chicken, celery, carrot and onion
  2. Combine in a bowl with salt and pepper to taste
  3. Mix ranch and buffalo sauce in a separate bowl
  4. Pour sauce mixture over chicken mixture and toss until chicken is coated in sauce
  5. Cover each tortilla with chicken salad mixture
  6. Roll tortilla tightly and wrap in plastic wrap
  7. Place in refrigerator for 1-2 hours until firm
  8. Take out and cut into 1 inch thick slices and place on platter in spiraling circles to resemble a Christmas tree (like this one in Better Homes and Gardens)
  9. Add Cherry tomatoes throughout your tree and place star on top
Moore’s Delicious Crab Cakes
    4 oz. Moore's Original Marinade
    1-¼ cups sour cream
    1 cup green onions chopped
    1 cup fresh breadcrumbs grated
    1 lb. fresh cooked crab meat –OR- 2 6-ounce cans crab meat, drained & rinsed
    2 egg whites lightly beaten
    1 tbsp. fresh lemon juice
    2 tsp minced fresh dill
   ½ cup ketchup
   2 tbsp. Horseradish (more or less depending on preference)
  1. Marinate crab meat for 30 minutes in Moore's Original Marinade
  2. In large bowl, blend crab, egg whites, ¼ cup sour cream, ½ cup green onions and lemon juice
  3. Form mixture into 3" diameter patties
  4. Combine breadcrumbs and dill
  5. Roll cakes in crumb mixture
  6. Place on large baking sheet and bake in preheated 375° oven 10 to 15 minutes
  7. In a small bowl, combine remaining sour cream and green onions for dipping sauce
  8. In another small bowl, combine ketchup and horseradish
  9. Serve cakes on platter garnished with lemon wedges, parsley, and drizzle with cocktail sauce for a holiday feel. Place the sour cream mixture in a dipping dish on the side.
Ham and Swiss Sliders
    12 Hawaiian dinner rolls, sliced open
    12 pieces of ham
    12 pieces of Swiss cheese, cut to fit roll size
    1 stick butter, melted
    1/2 T. minced onion
    1/2 T. yellow mustard
    1 T. Moore's Original Marinade
    1/2 T. poppy seeds
    1 tsp. sugar
  1. Melt butter in small saucepan. Remove from heat
  2. To the melted butter add onion, mustard, Moore's, sugar and poppy seeds. Stir to mix
  3. Separate rolls and place the bottoms in a sprayed 9"X13" oven safe dish
  4. Brush butter mixture over the bottoms of the rolls
  5. Stuff each roll with a piece of ham and a piece of cheese
  6. Brush the tops of the rolls (inside and out) with the butter mixture
  7. At this point you can cover and refrigerate up to two days before baking
  8. To bake, cover the dish with foil and bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes
  9. Then uncover and bake for about 5 more minutes or until cheese is melted and rolls are golden brown
  10. Place red and green toothpicks through the center once cooked to hold them together, plus make them a little festive
